We hope you’ve enjoyed browsing our grand plans. Work has now begun but we’re still a long way from realising our goal of becoming the best Students’ Union in the country. The University is investing £15.25 million in this development, which will significantly refurbish and extend the building and provide modern, purposeful and accessible space.

The new Percy Gee building has been designed so as to cater to as many student needs as possible, as well as social space dedicated meeting and training areas are being built to facilitate student development. Students are looking to gain more than just a degree by attending university and our new training suite and meeting areas will give us the space required to equip our students with valuable work and life skills to take into their career. Owen Jones, Campaigns and Involvement Officer at the students’ union, places huge importance in student development; “The new Percy Gee Building will have a fantastic impact on the lives of the students here at Leicester. From 2010 our students will have an experience unrivalled by any other Union in the country. The facilities available will enable the University to produce graduates with fully rounded skills ready for the professional world”.

Unfortunately the budget for the core contract does not stretch to transforming the whole building and therefore additional funds are being sought to improve key areas which are vital to the activities of the Students’ Union in delivering an excellent student experience, and attracting and retaining students from disadvantaged communities.

As a charity University of Leicester Students’ Union relies heavily on the generosity of Alumni, friends and supporters in all we do and the Percy Gee Redevelopment Project is no different. Working in conjunction with the University of Leicester’s Development and Alumni Relations Office we have put together an ambitious appeal to gather support and raise the funds we need that will prove so vital to our future successes. To find out more about the appeal, you can download our appeal brochure here.

Every donation we receive is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to achieving our goals. If you’re interested in donating you can find out how to make a gift here.
