Environmental Impact
The environmental impact we have on our world is central to our plans for the new building. We are building a more sustainable building, and building it in a more sustainable way. Features include:
- A new Biomass boiler.
- Rainwater harvesting which will allow us to reuse that water for flushing toilets.
- Natural lighting through the glazed roof.
- Natural ventilation of Venue and Market Place by design.
- Covered bicycle parking and shower facilities as a step towards encouraging students to use sustainable transport.
- Zonal environmental control systems to minimise waste.
- A key aim of the project is for the Percy Gee Building to be awarded the highest possible rating for BREEAM, the formal and in-depth Environmental Assessment Method for Buildings.
